Ion Transfer is an effective pain control technique which is especially used for neuralgic pains. It's affectiveness can be noticed after only a few sessions. 

There is a wooden stick that is wet down in water that attaches to the machine which is directly over the eye. This transfer of ions takes place through the optic nerve over the space of an hour (30min/each eye). There is also a metal rod which is placed at the base of the spine to ensure a constant flow of ions through the body, entering at the eys and exiting at the base of the spine.
